How the maze maker works
This page runs the maze generator kdpbook uses for its puzzle and activity books, in your browser. Every maze is a perfect maze: every cell can be reached and there is exactly one path between any two cells, so the solution is unique and there are no loops.
Rectangular mazes are carved with a recursive backtracker, which digs long, winding corridors. Hard and expert mazes switch part of the carving to random picks (a growing-tree method), which adds side branches and more dead ends. The entrance is on the top edge and the exit on the bottom edge, toward opposite sides, and the number of rows is fitted to the room the page leaves under the title, so the maze fills the page.
Circular mazes, also called theta mazes, are built from rings; cells split as the rings grow outward so they stay roughly square. You enter from the outside and finish in the center. The answer key draws the solution path in gray over the walls.

The starting sizes for each level (you can pick any size from 4 to 40 cells across afterwards):

From printable mazes to a KDP maze book
A maze book is a regular paperback on KDP: KDP’s low-content category covers notebooks, planners and journals and does not typically include activity books such as puzzle books, so the book needs an ISBN (KDP offers a free one) and at least 24 pages. Every wall here is at least 0.75 pt thick, which meets KDP’s 0.75 pt minimum line weight for print. This maker uses no AI model; if an AI tool drew your cover or wrote any text, KDP asks you to disclose that AI-generated content when you publish (see KDP AI content disclosure, explained).
For a whole book, kdpbook’s maze book for kids type, made for ages 3–12, builds a 104-page 8.5 × 11 in interior of mazes that get trickier page by page, with the solutions at the back, plus the full-wrap cover and the listing. The activity book type mixes mazes with other activities (pre-writing lines and letter tracing). The default maze book is estimated at 445 credits.
