What’s new in kdpbook.io

The changes an author would notice, each with the day it went live, newest first. Changes to Amazon’s own KDP rules have their page: KDP rule changes.

  1. kdpbook Publisher is public on the Chrome Web Store

kdpbook Publisher, the free extension for Chrome and Edge, can now be added from the Chrome Web Store. On a paid plan, it fills your Amazon KDP draft from your book’s export (details, categories, files and prices) and saves it; you review the draft and click Publish yourself.

  2. Coloring books print your own words under each design

A coloring book planned from your brief now prints, under each drawing, the lines your brief gives that page, such as a short text and a question, word for word. The drawing leaves a band at the bottom for them, and you can read and edit every caption before any picture is painted.

  3. 21 new illustration styles, 61 in all

Twenty-one illustration styles joined the library, which now holds 61 styles in 10 families, including a new World & heritage family: Japanese woodblock, Persian miniature, illuminated manuscript, mosaic and stained glass. The Art style step now opens on every style, with the ones suggested for your book type first.

  4. Page-by-page layout, and pictures with round corners

In the editor, the Layout tab now changes the page you are on, and an “Apply to all pages” bubble offers to carry the change to the whole book. Pictures can get rounded corners or be cut to a circle or an oval, and text panels can get rounded corners too.

  5. The Book assistant finishes long edits on its own

When a change is too long for one turn, the Book assistant now carries on by itself, up to two more turns, instead of asking you to type “continue”. It can also cut a page in two, picture included, in a single step, and every change it makes can be undone.
