1. The service
kdpbook.io (“kdpbook”, “we”) is an online studio that uses AI to write, illustrate and lay out books, and exports files formatted for Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). kdpbook is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Amazon. Kindle Direct Publishing and KDP are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc.
2. Your account
- You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, and give accurate information when you sign up.
- One person, one free account. Creating several accounts to collect free credits isn’t allowed and may lead to the accounts being closed.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account; keep your login secure.
3. Credits, plans and payments
- Generating books uses credits. New accounts receive 600 free credits once. Plans add credits every billing period, and subscribers can buy credit packs. Prices are shown on the pricing page, in US dollars, excluding tax.
- Before a generation starts you see its credit estimate. At launch we hold that estimate (up to 5% more), charge the work actually produced, and release the rest. If a generation fails, what wasn’t produced is not charged.
- Credits have no cash value, can’t be transferred, and are not refundable once used.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period already paid. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we never see your full card number.
4. Your books
- You keep the rights you have in what you bring to kdpbook: your ideas, prompts, manuscripts and images.
- On a paid plan, you may use, publish and sell the books you make with kdpbook, including their text and illustrations, without paying us royalties.
- On the free plan, books are for personal use and evaluation: exports are watermarked and may not be sold. Upgrade and export again to get clean files you can sell.
- AI-generated content may not be protected by copyright in some countries, and similar prompts can produce similar results for other users. We don’t promise exclusivity over generated content.
- You are responsible for the books you publish, including declaring AI-generated content to Amazon KDP. See our AI content policy.
5. What you allow us to do
To run the service, you allow us to store, process and display your content, and to send it to our AI and infrastructure providers to generate your book. For books published in the community (all free-plan books, and paid-plan books you make public), you also allow us to show them publicly on kdpbook.io, with their cover, pages and title, including in search results and previews, until you delete them.
6. Acceptable use
Don’t use kdpbook to create content that infringes other people’s rights, imitates real people without permission, sexualizes minors, promotes hate or violence, or breaks the law. Don’t try to break, overload, scrape or resell the service, or get around credit limits. The full list is in our AI content policy. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.
7. Amazon KDP
We build files to follow KDP’s published specifications and check them before export, but Amazon decides what it publishes. We don’t guarantee that KDP will accept a book, and we are not responsible for KDP’s decisions, rules, prices or royalties, which can change at any time.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep kdpbook available and your books safe, but the service is provided as it is, and features may change. We may update these terms; if a change matters, we will tell you before it applies. Continuing to use kdpbook after that means you accept the new terms.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, kdpbook is not liable for indirect losses such as lost sales or royalties, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
10. Closing your account
You can stop using kdpbook and delete your books at any time. We may close accounts that break these terms. Unused credits are lost when an account is closed for abuse.
