The Star We Look For
Grandpa has died, and brothers Stauros and Nikos miss him. Stauros has an idea: they can choose a star to remember Grandpa by. But beneath the vine, the leaves hide the sky, and when they find a place to look, remembering doesn’t come easily to both brothers.
Stauros invents a game with special rules: elbows touch, each brother shares a memory, and then their smallest fingers point toward a star. Stauros remembers Grandpa calling their slippers sleepy boats. Nikos remembers something too, but not in the way Stauros expects. When a cloud covers their chosen star and words are hard to find, the brothers must discover how else they can share what they miss.
The Star We Look For is a gentle story for ages 3–5 about sibling closeness, the different ways memories come back, and making space for sadness. Its quiet nighttime setting and tender details invite families to read together and talk about someone they love.
