Benny and the Missing Autumn Colors

by Efka Bluma

The forest has lost autumn. When little badger Benny finds a pale leaf where golden color should be, he makes a promise to bring autumn home. His friends Hazel, Hugo, and Olive join the search, following glimmers beneath fallen leaves, around a pumpkin vine, and beside the berry bushes.

Benny gathers a golden leaf, an orange petal, and a red berry, hoping each treasure will help restore the forest. But the colors fade whenever he lifts them from their places. Even a soft-brown acorn cup loses its color when Benny carries it away. With autumn disappearing and his promise weighing on him, Benny must look more closely: could the treasures be telling him something about where they belong?

Made for preschoolers ages 3–5, this gentle woodland adventure pairs a curious hero with a tender story about friendship, careful observation, and caring for nature. Its repeating discoveries and vivid forest details make it a warm choice to share aloud with young listeners.
