Kito and the Small Steps

by Riham Alazzawi

Papa’s enormous yawn gives Kito an idea: tonight, this little bear will tuck his tired dad into bed. There’s just one problem. The sprawling patchwork quilt won’t cooperate. An edge gets caught, the bundle flops, and carrying it is harder than Kito expected. When Papa’s toes peek out from a missing corner, Kito tries to make the quilt cover both ends—but it seems impossible.

With a gentle nudge from Papa, Kito learns that there’s no need to hurry. A pause gives their paws a rest, and a closer look helps Kito think about the troublesome quilt in a new way. Can he find a tuck that feels just right for Papa?

Kito and the Small Steps is a cozy bedtime story about kindness, patience, and figuring things out one small step at a time. Soft humor, expressive moments, and satisfying sounds such as “shuff,” “flump,” and “Fwoof!” make it a warm read-aloud for preschoolers and the grown-ups sharing bedtime with them.
