Goodnight, Little Star

by B

When sleep won’t come, a little company can make all the difference.

Zeni is wide awake beneath the high moon when a tiny, tired star taps at the window. The star has forgotten how to fall asleep, and Zeni has, too. Together they try counting sheep—with a very bouncy surprise—and singing a sleepy song, which ends in a sparkly sneeze and more giggles.

Then Zeni wonders if bedtime might need fewer tricks and a little more quiet togetherness. Snuggled close, the friends listen to the trees whisper and breathe in and out together. As the room grows still, Zeni drifts to sleep, and the little star finds its way home to the night sky.

Goodnight, Little Star is a tender, playful read-aloud for preschoolers and the grown-ups who share bedtime with them. Its gentle breathing moment and warm friendship make it a lovely choice for winding down together. Includes 10 illustrations and a “This book belongs to” page.

Moon high. House quiet. Zeni? WIDE awake.
TINK! TINK! Little Star tapped the window. Not one twinkle.
“Me too! Let’s try together,” said Zeni. “One sheep… two… three…”
