Bella and the Small Dragon

by Victoria N

Bella loves finding things out, and a round wooden lid may be the key to a mystery on the hill. With her small dragon friend, Dax, she sets off for the listening bench, hoping to hear water jumping in the brook. But the lid is wide, the wind keeps shoving it, and a deep hum swallows their words when the path divides.

At the bench, the sounds don’t match what Bella expected. The brook is faint beneath one enormous hum, and a scrape interrupts the listening. Bella must work out where the lid belongs and how to make it stay, while she and Dax follow the clues built into the cups, pipe, and stone housing. Can their careful hands and curious ears help them hear the tiny sounds hiding underneath?

Bella and the Small Dragon is a warm, lively read-aloud adventure for ages 5–8, with a resourceful young heroine, a helpful dragon friend, and a satisfying story about paying attention and seeing a repair through.
